Sergey Aleksandrovich Sniegov
Russian physicist, philosopher & writer
Sergey Aleksandrovich Sniegov (1910-1994) – Russian physicist, philosopher, writer. He was forbidden to philosophize, so he took a job as an engineer in industrial plants. Arrested on charges of conspiracy against the USSR authorities, after 9 months in Lubyanka (an investigative prison at the headquarters of the NKVD), he spent 10 years in labor camps. He couldn’t continue his scientific career, so he started writing, gaining… a publication ban. Ultimately, he tried to reach the audience through fantasy and created several dozen short stories and novels in this genre.
The Men Like Gods trilogy is a record of three space journeys, told by one of the most important crew members – Eli. Sniegov created a whole range of equivalent characters, including Romero, Viera, Allan, Lusin, André, Olga and Leopold, Kamagin, Osima, Orlan and Trub, and these are just some of them and I honestly admit that I am full of admiration for them, how, despite such a large number of heroes, he gave each of them a unique character and meaning that does not allow them to be placed in secondary positions and creates attachment. Many of them will die..
